I noticed that the AVP-1 isn't on sale or is on clearance from many outlets, could this be because a new model is planned for release?

The AVP-1 is sold by Musiciansfriend.com and guitarcenter.com solely. That's why you won't see at any other retail stores.

Yup, I'm going to pick one up soon. Probably going to spend a lot more time on these forums after the purchase.
