Drum loops, for the most part, don't even have pitch to detect-- except maybe the kick, if it's synth based (in which case you should retune using the synth). To answer your question specifically, drums are sometimes monophonic, sometimes stereo. It's not black or white. I can't imagine what running a drum loop through Auto Tune would sound like if you try to re-pitch it, but if that's what you want to do...

Which brings me to the question, what are you trying to do? Maybe I could be more clear if I understand you motivation in running drums through Auto Tune.

I am learning to write music in key. I would to find a program that could help me either understand if all the sounds I am using are in key or a program to show each sound what key they are in. Thank you for your help on this! I really appreciate your time!

I see. So if you're doing something like electronic music and your kick drum is synth based then you could check that through Auto Tune to see what key it's in.

I actually retract my statement about the audio having to be monophonic, Auto Tune picks the Left or Right channel (a preference at the top left) to find the pitch if it's not monophonic.
