I know what to do on the end of the AVP, but thats about it.  I'm supposed to dump into a MIDI sequencer apparently?  I would rather save presets on my computer.  Pretty sure I can use my Akai MPK to hook up the AVP to the computer as a makeshift midi interface.  What would I be dumping into though?  I downloaded a program that supposedly manages SysEx files but I haven't messed with it enough to figure out if it could even see the AVP through the MPK.  If it can't then I may not be able to dump into the comp.

All of that is trial and error though... I don't even know if I'm on the right track, so I was hoping someone could explain the basics of saving and managing presets.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Charles,

Any sequencer that is capable of recording and transmitting MIDI data will work with the AVP-1.

I'm not completely sure if you can transmit MIDI data through or into your MPK. The MPK can receive Sysex data but it appears that it will only accept data that conforms to its presets. Depending on when you got your MPK, it should have came with Ableton Live Lite. It would be an inexpensive investment to get a cable that go from a standard MIDI plug to one that attaches directly into your printer port. If you don't have a printer port, I'm sure they make one that goes from MIDI to USB.

With the latter setup you can simply hit record in Ableton Live Lite and initiate the Sysex Dump from your AVP-1.
