Anybody remember this product? I remember paying big bucks for it back in the day, and now that time has marched on I have a project where this would be perfect. I can install the software, but when I try to register it nothing happens (on one computer) or my computer crashes (on my laptop). Anybody know if there's any way to use this product, now that it is completely unsupported? It used the PACE Interlock registration approach...

Oh... and just to clarify, I have no problem actually installing the software, as both of my computers are still using Windows XP. It's just not possible to register it using the call and response PACE thing.
Welcome to the board, Bill. Try this: http://www.antarestech.com/authorize/index.shtml
I just wanted to ask somebody... anybody. Why would you discontinue this Microphone Modeler? From what I can see online it looks like it would be a GREAT software. IF it worked. There are so many guitar amp modelers there would have to be something like around for microphones but this looks like the only one and its discontinued. Why? Are you ever going to bring this back for use on Intel? Didn't it work? Do you have something better now?
I could tell quite a story here, what happened after I have complained about stopping support for Mic Mod ..... but I still believe, Antarestech is willing to help their Users and not leaving them alone! I still wait, that they answer my mails, after they gave me a very bad deal........... so I still believe I might be able to write about a good end in this here........
OOOoooo somebody has a story... do tell...
Then again, lets keep this a happy happy thread.
They do say that they will not support it anymore. I'm just hoping to find out WHY?
I would LOVE to have something that did what this claims too. Wouldn't everyone?
Is Microphone Modeler now included in some other one of their products?
If not, WHY?? Can they, will they, try again? Pretty please. (Intel Mac version)
Aren't there some moderators from Antares on this forum who might be kind enough to answer this question?
No, they have not .... It is a dragedy .... I used it on my current Productions - I had to switch to a new Intel Mac ... and then found out, that they do not have support for Intels and stopped it ....... I bought it three years ago for almost 300 Bucks..... It was a great Plug - of course it could not make you a real Manley Gold - but the Vocal Sound was so much lifted with the Plug.... ... I did this: I made on my old Mac some IR - Modells of my favourite Setting and use these on my TriTone ColorTone Plus Plug (great) and to get the Tube-Factor of MicMod i tried the new "Warm" Plug-Demo, wich seems to do exactly the old Job..... But I maild to Antares, that it can't be, that Owners of Mic Mod, that spended so much money and trust into this product - nowa are forced to spent another 100 Bucks for "Warm", that "only" does, what half of Mic Mod did....... So they told me, that some years ago they had an offer to Mic Mod Users, the couls upgrade to one of the new Vocal Plugs for free....... ok one is better then nothing, but again I asked them to understand, that we users might not have realized this mail in the past, since there was no need to think about an Intel Mac ..... ok - then they seemed to be understanding and told me, that I could upgrade to Warm for free as a courtesy. Well - I was happy, since I would have been able to make alle the Mic Mod Settings on my old Mac - do the Response IR's and kick the signal with Warm .... and here is what happened then: After loading the ilok-Liscence I could not use Mic Mod again.... first I thought, the Plug had to be re-installed - but then I found - They erased my liscence!!! There had been no Warning on this, no hint anywhere - the gave me a 99,- Plug and took my genious 300 Dollar Plug!!!! Ok - I didn't want to post it here by now, since I really hoped, they would see in this crazyness. I have written many complain-mails - First they answered, that this can't be undone and they even admid, that this process intents to wipe the old unsupportet Plug from the market ....... after that they totaly ignored me ... I have and I still am in productions, we startet with Mic Mod - I had Studio Customers that read the answers from Antares and went crazy! I have spoken with other Studio-People, they agree - this had been totally offensive - and is not at all a way to treat customers ..... Ok - now, that they don't answer me any more the only thing to do is to tell other Antares Legacy Users and bring Antares People to think about this behavior.... If they would have only told me straight - I would have rather spent the 99,- Bucks and keep my Mic Mod - though this is still mad..... Anyone here that feels the same?
Still no comment from the company then. Is this part of the "no support for Mic Mod" announcement they made?

Does ANYONE know another program that does the same thing?

I want it. I want it. (if it ever worked) but sadly its not sold anymore and even if it is, it doesn't work on Intel mac.

So, do any of their other products have these microphone modelers in it?

I'm trying to understand, because I can't believe they would have a program that at least SAYS it can model so many different mics and then discontinue it with no hope of resurrection and without incorporating these features into another software.

Is that what they did?

Was something wrong with it? Did they require permission to model these mics? What happened?

I vote for resurrection. It is well past the 3rd day.
Antares did incorporate their mic modeling technology into the Antares AVP Vocal Producer (this is hardware rather than software). It is a bit pricey at $419+. I have no interest in spending that kind of money on top of what I originally spent for Mic Modeler. Vocal Producer has been around for a while; it was reviewed in 1999 in Electronic Musician. It is currently shown on the Antares website and is available at Musicians Friend and Guitar Center online, so appears to still be a supported product. If I were interested in getting one I'd go hunting at eBay.

Note: I'm suspicious that this hardware implementation of mic modeler may not be very comprehensive. On the product description page under "Specifications" they list a fairly generic set of microphone types, so perhaps this is "mic modeler lite." http://www.antarestech.com/products/avp.shtml

I have no knowledge of why Antares chose to drop their Mic Modeler plug-in product, but my guess would be that it didn't generate enough sales compared to the AutoTune products.

They claim to still support the legacy call-and-response system to install/register the mic modeler plug-in software. However, I haven't been able to get it properly registered this way - my Windows XP system completely hangs up when trying to register, and then I can't even uninstall. Moot point, as the plug-in didn't work with recent versions of Adobe Audition (although it worked great with the much older predecessor Cool Edit 2000). The Antares support person I worked with was actually pretty helpful in that regard, as he was an Adobe Audition user as well, but in the end nothing worked for me. Finally, they don't support the product on Windows Vista. Every once in a while I get inspired to try the installation again, but there are just so many hurdles to overcome that I've pretty much given up.

By the way, I never got any offer to upgrade to another product. Dang!
It's aso rude to what happened to me - and no - I did not know, that I loose my old liscence.... And I tried to be thankfull, untill I noticed that this has been a very bad deal......
Thanx for the heads up about the AVP.

If any one from Antares cares to read this thread... please note...

BRING BACK THE MIC MODELER SOFTWARE FOR MAC INTEL..

please please bring it back

Not too sure I understand the problem....

Mic Modeller Evo works great here - and on the list of downloads there are many different mac binaries.
