I recently installed AVOX DUO VST plug-in and the installation procedure seemed to go OK. But when my recording programs (I have a couple) scan for the plug-in, they lock up when they get to the AVOX DUO plug-in. I tried reinstalling the program but same results. Any ideas?

btw - I have a valid license and latest iLok drivers installed. Win XP Pro if that matters. The DLL is located in my system VST folder along with auto-tune and harmony engine which both seem to work fine. It's only DUO that is causing the problem.
Welcome to the board, Larry.

Make sure you are installing the correct version of DUO on your system. If you have a license for the original DUO, you'll want to install this plug-in: http://www.antarestech.com/downloads/AVOX_DUO_VST_PC_v1.1.3.exe

If you are running DUO Evo, then you'll want to install the plug-in from the AVOX Bundle: http://www.antarestech.com/downloads/AVOX_Evo/PC/AVOX_Evo_VST_v3.0....

Before you re-install, uninstall your current plug-in in order to prevent miss matched file data.
I have the correct version of DUO. Thanks. What next?
What hosts are you running? Also what service pack of XP are you working with?
I am using both Samplitude Pro V10 and Sonar Producer 8.5. Windows XP with SP3. I forgot to mention it but I am using DUO version 1.1.3.
Should work fine. Open Sonar, go to Plug-in Manager from the menu, and make sure to Add the path where your DUO plug-in is located. Once you do this, push the Rescan Plug-in Folder button and it should appear. If you get a pop-up that says you need to Authorize the software and you have your iLok key plugged in, then you've probably installed the incorrect version of DUO. If not, then everything should work.

Not sure about Samplitude. I'm sure it has a similar process.
Yeah I understand how to do all that. If it was only that simple. I only have one version of DUO. Version 1.1.3. It actually worked at one time. The reason this is happening now is because I had to replace my system HD and reinstall all my software. This is the only thing not functioning properly. I have many other VST's and they all work fine - including the other Antares stuff I have. I even went so far as to try a fresh OS install and it still didn't work. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program a few times. It doesn't make any sense. Sonar (and Samplitude) both lock up during the VST scan procedure when it gets to the DUO plug-in. The DUO installation goes without a hitch. I get that "license available on your iLok you're ready to go" thumbs up message after I reboot the computer so it certainly seems as though it should work just fine.

I'm beginning to believe we've exhausted the easy options at this point. To make matters worse, Antares is providing no help through their TS channel. Apparently, support for what constitutes a legacy product is not an option.
If all of your other Antares plug-ins are working then it leads me to believe that the issue is with the plug-in file.

Go into your Sonar plug-in manager and see what directories it is looking in to access plug-ins. Go into these directories and check to see if there is multiple copies of the DUO plug-in.

You'll only need one if you find more. Once you find it (them), right click on the DLL file and go to Properties. Click on the version tab and make sure it says 1.1.3. I know you're sure, but I just want to fact check that you're not accessing two different plug-ins.

Side note: Tech support offices usually don't operate on weekends (which I'm assuming from your post date you placed a request in on Friday). Not excusing, just saying.
There is only one system VST directory and only one instance of the plug-in (AVOX DUO.dll) listed there. I did a search just to make sure and there is another instance of the DUO.dll file in the Antares Audio Technologies subdirectory on C drive. But Sonar is not looking for VST's there so it shouldn't be an issue. One thing I've noted in my travels, when I uninstall DUO from my system, it also removes the iLok driver because Auto-Tune EVO doesn't work after I uninstall DUO. I have to reinstall the iLok driver every time I uninstall DUO. Makes me wonder if perhaps the problem might be with the installation package that comes with 1.1.3. Perhaps DUO is installing a different iLok driver?
Perhaps updating your PACE driver to the latest might resolve this?

If not, I'd try again with tech support to see if they can figure it out.
Thanks for responding. I already have the latest Pace drivers.
I also use Sonar Producer 8.5 and just purchased the latest version of Evo Duo. It doesn't hang for me, but it still never shows up. It installed fine and the iLok stuff went fine as usual, but it doesn't show up in the VST plug-in lists in Sonar. The DLL is present in my VST folder (C:\VST is where all my VST's reside except a few from Native-Instruments which wanted a separate 64-bit only place - for those I use C:\VST64). I've rescanned VST's many times and also set Sonar to rescan failed VST's. There's no indication that anything fails but there is no sign of Duo in either the VST FX list or the VST Soft Synth list. How can I make it show up? I've uninstalled & reinistalled Duo, but that made no difference. I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.
