Problems with Logic 9.1 (64 bit) loading Auto-Tune 5 and AVOX

Anybody else move up to Logic 9.1 lately and find that they've lost ALL their plug-ins except the Apple ones.  I called Apples' Logic experts and they gave me a lot of articles to read but no definitive answers other than, "You'll have to wait for everyone else to catch up."  Even when I switched 9.1 to 32 bit, when I switched back to 9.02 and to even Logic 8, I still couldn't open any Atares, Waves, 1K or N.I. plug-ins.

Anybody got any suggestions?

Cheers,

RM

It's a known issue that 64-bit Logic can't scan 32-bit plugs, making it look like they're not there at all. Normally you'd just switch back to 32-bit mode, scan everything, and then they'd be available in 64-bit mode through the bridge. If all your plugs are still not showing up (and you've confirmed the component files are there in Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components), then you can try trashing the AU cache file and rescanning (in 32-bit mode, of course). That cache file is at ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.audiounits.cache.

Of course, once you get that working, you'll probably run into that wonderful bug with Auto-Tune 5 in Logic 9. It works perfectly fine until you try and remove the plugin from a track, at which point the whole of Logic crashes. There's no real way around this right now, aside from going up to Auto-Tune Evo.

And then you can also have fun with all the little quirks of running 32-bit plugins in 64-bit Logic. The bridge can only display one 32-bit plugin at a time, so you'll probably spend a lot of time switching back and forth between plugin windows. Except when you switch back and forth several times in succession, Logic crashes. Regardless of what the plugins are. Oh, and I hope you aren't too attached to AVOX Articulator, because side chaining doesn't work through the bridge. At all.

For these reasons and others (no ReWire support in 64-bit mode? Really?), I've switched back to 32-bit Logic 9.1, where things work more like you would expect them to. The Auto-Tune 5 issue still stands, though.
Lucas,
Thanks mate. I appreciate the input. I spent hours (waiting on hold for a Logic x-pert @ Apple support) and had several short conversations during my research but none of them told me about trashing the AU cache and then rescanning the Manager. Thanks. That is perfectly logical (pun intended). And I did find out how to reset V. 9.1 back to 32 bit and have been working that way. I guess it's like one of the first support guys told me ... we'll just have to wait until the plug makers catch up to 64 bit. Your reply was extremely helpful. I'll try it right now.
Cheers,
RM
