Reality TV killed the Video Star.
Twenty-eight years ago, the world of music video was something special, must-see TV years before the networks coined the phrase. The year 1992 featured the debut of the first "Real World" reality television programming on MTV and signaled the beginning of the end of MTV as we knew it. Over the next few years music videos began to fade and become a thing of the past on MTV.
Since music videos have died on MTV, fans around the world have had to turn to classic programming to get their fix of music production. MTV fanatics have looked to a company called Antares Audio Technologies and their discontinued Legacy products for inspiration. Fans have changed their rallying cry from 'I want my MTV' to the equally cryptic slogan 'I want my MDT!'.
