Step 1: Installing the Antares software
A. If you have not already installed the desired Antares plug-in(s) on you computer, download the Audio Units versions (Audio Units is the format required for use in GarageBand) from one of the following web links. (If you have already installed the latest Audio Units plug-in version, please skip ahead to Step 2.)
Auto-Tune EFX AU
Auto-Tune Evo AU
AVOX Evo AU
Harmony Engine Evo AU
B. Once the Antares software has been downloaded onto your computer, click on the file to begin the installation process. After the installer has been started up, you will be asked to enter in your Mac System Password to continue with software installation. This password is your standard Mac System Password and User Name which you use to log onto your computer, not an Antares Registration Code. After entering in your password, you will then be shown a series of installation window options, including the license agreement, which need to be completed in order to install the software.
C. After the Antares software has been successfully installed, you will see a screen which says 'Thank you for purchasing or evaluating Antares software'. Click the 'Quit' button to continue with the 10 day demo period. The Antares plug-in software should now be fully installed on your system.
Step 2: Opening the Antares plug-in(s) within Apple GarageBand
A. Start up Garageband, which is located in the 'Applications' folder on your computer. Select the option to open a 'New Music Project' and the GarageBand 'New Project' dialog box will appear. Type in a project name and then click the button to 'Create' a new project.
B. From the 'Track' menu in GarageBand, select the option for creating a 'New Track'. This will open the 'New Track' dialog box and the option for 'Real Instrument' should be selected. After selecting 'Real Instrument', click the button to 'Create' a new audio track. A new 'Real Instrument' track should then appear on the screen with the default name 'No Effects' and the 'Track Info' window should appear on the right side of the screen. If the 'Track Info' window does not appear on the screen, going to the 'Track' menu and selecting the option for 'Show Track Info' should make the window appear.
C. After you have created a new 'Real Instrument' track, you can use your mouse to drag an audio file into this new track and the audio file should be added to the track.
D. Once the audio file is in place, it is necessary to open the Antares plug-in(s) you have installed from the 'Track Info' window. Near the bottom of the 'Track Info' window will be a heading for 'Details' with a little dark triangle icon to the left of it. Clicking on the triangle icon will open the 'Details' listing which reveals the effects settings for the 'Real Instrument' track.
E. Just below the 'Compressor' effect in the Details section of the 'Track Info' window, is an effect slot which has the default setting of 'None'. Clicking on this effect slot will open a drop down menu of effects. Near the bottom of the effects list will be all of the Audio Units (AU) plug-ins. Select the desired Antares plug-in from the effects listing and the plug-in should then be listed in the effects slot. To the right of this listing will be a slot that is labeled 'Manual' and then further to the right is a small icon with a Pencil tool in the middle. Clicking on the Pencil tool Icon will open up the Antares plug-in window for editing the plug-in's settings.
F. Press the play button in GarageBand and your audio file should now be processed through the Antares software plug-in.
INSTALLATION TROUBLESHOOTING: Please note, if you have already installed the Audio Units format of the Antares plug-in but it's not appearing in the GarageBand effects list, please check the following location to see if the Antares AU plug-in file was installed correctly on your system:
Macintosh HD->Library->Audio->Plugins->Components.
You should see the Antares plug-in within this Components folder. If the Antares plug-in is installed in your Components folder, GarageBand should automatically scan the plug-in when GarageBand is opened. The Antares plug-in should then appear within your GarageBand software in the AU effects menu. If the Antares plug-in files are properly installed but, are still not appearing in the GarageBand AU effects list, it may be possible that you are running in demo mode and the 10 day demonstration period has expired. In that case, it's time to buy the plugin.
